Ouchi-juku
During the Edo period, Ouchi-juku prospered as a lodging town along the Aizunishi-kaido Road. The area has rows of more than 40 houses with thatched roofs, leaving the atmosphere of the former mountain village intact. Currently, private houses in Ouchi-juku are restaurants and souvenir shops.
Ouchi-juku is crowded especially in seasons of fresh greenery and autumn leaves. On July 2nd every year, the “Hange festival” is held where you can see lines of people dressed in period costumes.
